Kylian Mbappe‘s latest comments on his PSG future have ruffled some feathers at Real Madrid, according to a report.

The Frenchman spoke about his future for the first time since shutting down an exit rumour on X in the summer. After PSG beat Toulouse in the French Super Cup, the 25-year-old addressed his uncertain contract situation, which currently allows him to negotiate with interested clubs such as Real Madrid and Liverpool.

“I am already very motivated for this year. It’s very important, we have titles to go after,” he told the media. “Afterwards, no I haven’t made my decision, I didn’t make a choice.”

“With the agreement that I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we will seek to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the upcoming matches, which remains the most important thing.”

Asked when his decision will be made public, he said: “I don’t know. It was late May in 2022 because I didn’t know until May. If I know what I want to do, why hang around?…Nobody talks about my situation inside the club. Not many people are interested.”

Real Madrid ‘not amused’

These seemingly innocuous comments have supposedly ruffled some feathers at Real Madrid. At least that’s according to El Chiringuito journalist Josep Pedrerol.

“Real Madrid are not amused by Mbappe’s words,” he said on his show in light of the 25-year-old’s statement. “They do not want to get into a season-long drama, and it appears Mbappe does.”

Los Blancos are keen on a swift resolution to the transfer saga and have reportedly set the Frenchman a mid-January deadline to make his decision. Judging by his comments, however, he won’t be rushed into making up his mind.

In fact, Real Madrid’s hard-ball tactics are actually said to be counterproductive and have given Liverpool an unlikely window of opportunity to potentially exploit.
