Man Utd and Brighton enter bidding war for ‘next Moises Caicedo’ as opening offer rejected | Football | Sport

It remains to be seen whether United attempt to accelerate their pursuit of Zambrano and try and strike a deal before other clubs table considerable offers that will truly test the resolve of Quito.

United had previously missed out on signing Chelsea star Caicedo to Brighton in February 2021 after a confusing agency situation prompted the Red Devils to take their foot off of the gas, providing the Seagulls with the ideal opportunity to swoop in and strike a deal.

The decision proved incredibly costly to United, with Brighton going on to develop Caicedo before selling him for £115million during the summer transfer window. The Red Devils may therefore not take any chances with Zambrano given the minimal risk involved in the deal, especially as Caicedo would be the perfect addition to Ten Hag’s midfield at present.
