Crysencio Summerville has been a huge asset for Leeds in their promotion push during the 2023/24 season.

The Dutchman has been the Whites’ standout performer as they look to regain a spot in the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The 22-year-old moved to the Yorkshire club in 2020 and has been a key player ever since. It’s why the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle have registered an interest ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window.

But just who is Summerville and what can he potentially offer these Premier League clubs?

What position does Crysencio Summerville play?

Summerville is a versatile winger, capable of being poised either on the right or left flank. He has enjoyed his best success on the left side for Leeds this season, being their top scorer in the league at the time of writing. Arguably his proficiency in front of goal means that, in addition to playing on the sides, he could be played as a striker if needed.

How good is Crysencio Summerville ?

Born in Rotterdam, Summerville started his football journey at RVVV Noorderkwartier before joining the Feyenoord academy in 2008.

He was moved to the first-team but declined a new extended contract offer in 2020. Shortly after, he moved to Leeds, penning a three-year contract, before initially being played in their youth side, in the Premier League 2 league. There he provided 12 goal contributions in 12 games before being promoted once again to the first-team.

His full Premier League debut came in 2021 against Newcastle, and in 2022 after another successful season, he agreed to a new contract with Leeds until 2026.

Across four seasons at Elland Road, he has scored 15 goals in 61 games, including four in the Premier League the season prior. But it’s been this term that the Netherlands Under-21s player has truly flourished, attracting interest from some of Europe’s elite sides.

Late last year, Leeds head coach Daniel Farke spoke up the Summerville’s ability. He said: “How we work is a secret for the training ground. I don’t talk about meetings. Crysencio is a baller.

“When you see a guy touching the ball like he does it’s heart-warming. We want him to improve his effectiveness. Need goals and assists and end products. The next step in his career. Delivers like this, he is on a good path.”

Summervillehas certainly answered his manager’s request with a slew of goals in recent weeks, but there is much more to his game than that.

“He ranks above the 95 percentile for shots, shot-creating actions, xA, touches in the penalty area, and progressive carries. Of course, his non-penalty goals compared to wingers are in the 99th percentile to round off a youngster who boasts a huge volume of attacking numbers.

There are a lot of clubs who have registered an interest in Summerville – FootballTransfers revealed that Newcastle were keenon bringing in the winger in the upcoming summer transfer window, while AnfieldWatch has reported that Liverpool are monitoring the Dutchman.

There also have been links to Burnley, Aston Villa, and Brighton, but there is almost no chance that Leeds will allow him to leave during the window, a crucial point of their campaign.
