Hojlund was a big-money signing from Atalanta last summer but has struggled badly in front of goal for Man Utd this season.
He again disappointed on Monday evening during United’s 2-0 win at Wigan in the FA Cup third round.
Hojlund missed a host of chances as he once again failed to get on the scoresheet.
Commenting on the game for ITV, Keane disagreed with fellow pundit Ian Wright, who had expressed sympathy for Hojlund after his missed chances.
What did Keane say about Hojlund?
“You’re too kind,” Keane told ITV Sport, responding to Wright’s sympathy for the forward. “I would be fuming with him.
“We wanted United to show a part of their game tonight and they have in terms of missing chances and not being clinical – I want to see that side of United tonight. When your striker is missing chances, we can say unlucky all day, they are great opportunities.
Hojlund at Man Utd
Man Utd signed Hojlund this summer from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
Hojlund signed a five-year contract until 2028 worth €5m a year plus bonuses.
He made his debut for the Red Devils as a substitute in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal and has since gone on to score just one Premier League goal in 15 appearances. He also has no assists.
He did score five goals in the Champions League group stages but Man Utd were eliminated from Europe altogether after finishing bottom of their group.
Hojlund exploded in 2023 as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
He scored 15 goals in the calendar year for club and country prior to his move to Man Utd.
