Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has new issue as sack pressure raised | Football | Sport

Chelsea appear devoid of leadership after overhauling their squad since Boehly and co took over and spent £1billion on transfers, an issue Pochettino will need to address but he does have the luxury of time despite underperforming in their league position.

A European finish is not the only factor that Pochettino is being judged on in his first season in charge of Chelsea, but the club’s hierarchy at the start of the season outlined the expectation to qualify for the Europa Conference League at the least. That could come through their league finish or by winning the FA Cup, having drawn Aston Villa at home in the fourth round of the competition.

But with Gallagher’s closest allies even doubting the decision to name him captain, Pochettino will be hoping that dressing room leaders James and Chilwell can return to full fitness in the near future and propel them to a strong second half of the season.
