Tottenham shared a reveal video of the German on their social media platforms which generated plenty of excitement amongst their fans.

But rival supporters seized an opportunity to mock Werner thanks to one moment in the announcement clip.

The forward, 27, was shown pointing at the lit-up cockerel on top of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but he appeared to miss his target.

Thanks in part to the camera angle, Werner appeared to be directing his finger to the left of the cockerel – cue laughter and mockery from fans.

Werner has long been mocked for his wayward finishing since flopping at Chelsea, and supporters found it hilarious that he missed the target once again.

One fan said: “HE MISSED ALREADY.”

Another added: “Shock he’s missed.”

And a third wrote: “Of course he missed 😭”

But Ange Postecoglou could throw him straight into the action against Manchester United on Sunday with Son Heung-min absent due to his participation in the Asian Games with South Korea.
