Mario Balotelli is eyeing a shock Serie A move just four months after returning to Adana Demirspor, according to Turkish and French media.

The controversial striker is in the news again. Having already played for 11 clubs throughout his career, it seems that the former Italy wonderkid is already looking for his 12th.

The veteran striker, a player who has become synonymous with wasted potential, only returned to Adana Demirspor for a second stint in the summer after leaving Swiss side FC Sion, a club just as controversial as Balotelli. Things haven’t quite worked out for him back in Turkey, however.

Balotelli has been restricted to just five appearances this term because of a knee injury, but in those matches, he did notch a pretty impressive three goals in the Turkish Super Lig.

With the striker currently recovering from knee surgery, Turkish outlet Fanatik has claimed that he wants out of Adana. The former Liverpool and Man City man will mutually agree to part ways with the club this month, it is asserted.

Balotelli back to Italy?

Footmercato has now provided more information on the 33-year-old’s future. The French outlet reports that Balotelli wants to make a spectacular return to Serie A. The striker already revealed in November that he still believes he can offer something to the Italian national team.

A move back to Serie A, Balotelli believes, will give him a better chance of making the squad for Euro 2024 in Germany. The Palermo native hasn’t played in the Italian top flight since a 19-game stint at Brescia in 2019/20 after which he played for Monza in Serie B.

The French outlet claims that Udinese, Salernitana and Empoli are all in “deep discussions” about whether signing Balotelli would be feasible, with the player said to be ready to make financial sacrifices to facilitate a move back to Italy.
