Arsenal handed Solanke boost
Arsenal have been handed a boost in their hopes to sign Dominic Solanke.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Premier League Player of the Month, but were expecting to face competition from Newcastle.
But Magpies boss Eddie Howe has now revealed that his side can’t afford to sign Solanke this month.
Speaking in his press conference, he said: “I love Dominic Solanke, I signed him and I rate him very, very highly.
“But we have not made an enquiry for him and we don’t have the ability to sign a player of that level.”
Timber back on the grass
Jurrien Timber has stepped up his recovery following the 22-year-old’s ACL injury at the start of the season.
The Dutch defender arrived at the Emirates Stadium this summer from Ajax, but was hooked on his Premier League debut after sustaining the nasty injury.
However in a positive move for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, Timber now seems to be back working with a ball at his feet with the squad during their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
Ramsdale told to consider West Ham
Stan Collymore has suggested that Aaron Ramsdale should consider a move to West Ham.
He told CaughtOffside: “I wonder if West Ham might fancy him.
“They’ve got Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski as their two senior keepers but both are into their 30’s with the latter close to turning 40, so it seems a change in that position is coming sooner rather than later.
“Could Ramsdale be the man for David Moyes? – I think so, and I also think that’s one club that could offer him exactly what he’s looking for.
“The Hammers are a big enough club that their players are considered for international duties, they have had recent success in Europe, and by the manager’s own admission, are now aiming to establish themselves as a Champions League side — that seems like the perfect project for a player like Ramsdale.”
Partey not in Afcon
Ghana will be hoping to go all the way at the Afcon when it gets underway later this weekend.
But they’ll have to do so without one of their star players – Thomas Partey.
Partey has been out of action since October with a thigh injury but is back in training at Arsenal.
The former Atletico Madrid man is hoping to make his return to the pitch in the next few weeks.
But AFCON 2023 comes too soon for Partey, according to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Ghana manager Chris Hughton.
Gunners plot swap deal
Arsenal are reportedly open to launching a player-plus-cash bid for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this month.
The Serbian international has been a long-term target for the Gunners as they look to solve their goalscoring issues.
According to TV Play, via Sport Witness, Arsenal could make an approach before the end of the month.
The report adds that any fresh approach would include youngster Charlie Patino going the other way.
