Williams made 31 appearances for Forest in the Premier League last season, but this term, he has only featured 11 times. Due to the presence of competitors such as Gonzalo Montiel, Ola Aina, Serge Aurier, Richie Laryea and Nuno Tavares, the chances of playing time look quite simply slim for the 22-year-old defender from Wrexham.

Feyenoordare keen to take advantage of this situation and pick up the Welshman this month. “Williams’ name has been submitted to Feyenoord bosses for assessment by the scouting department,” writes Rutger Vinke of Feyenoord Transfermarkt.

“After which decisions were made on a technical and administrative level: the right back is relatively affordable and seems to fit optimally into the style of play of the Rotterdam team.” Neco Williams went through Liverpool‘s entire youth academy but never properly broke through with the Reds.

Forest paid €20m for him in 2022 off the back of a loan stint at Fulham. Now, he could become the second ex-Red to head to the Eredivisie this month. Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is on the verge of joining Ajax, though questions have been asked about his decision to head to the Netherlands.

Feyenoord are currently looking to loan Williams, but according to the above-mentioned report, they would like to keep the right-back permanently should an affordable deal be struck and the move turn out successful.

One would imagine that Forest would be open to a sale as they have just been charged by the Premier League with breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules.
