Manchester United have reportedly decided to offer two of their most expensive signings of all time to the Saudi Pro League.
The wealthiest division in world football have major transfer plans for 2024 as they look to build on their work from last summer, despite the fact that Jordan Henderson has already left and Karim Benzema may soon join him in departing Saudi Arabia.
Erik ten Hag’s side have seen several big-money arrivals fail to make the desired impact at Old Trafford in recent years and they have now decided that transfer flops Antony and Jadon Sancho are surplus to requirements.
As a result, they have offered the pair to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, according to The Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella.
Sancho is currently on loan at Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund after being exiled from the Man Utd first-team squad by Ten Hag, while Antony has played just 66 minutes in the last three Premier League matches combined.
The pair have ultimately failed to live up to their ludicrous price tags since moving to Old Trafford and the Red Devils are hoping to recoup some of their investment by offering both Sancho and Antony to Saudi Arabian clubs.
According to The Evening Standard, Man Utd want a fee of around €58 million (£50m) each for both players.
Sancho is Man Utd’s fourth most expensive signing of all time, courtesy of his €85m transfer from Dortmund in 2021, while Antony is second on the list following his €95m move from Ajax in 2022.
Fabrizio Romano denies Saudi Arabia moves for Jadon Sancho and Antony
While The Evening Standard have reported that both Sancho and Antony have been offered to the Saudi Pro League, Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on such claims.
He told the United Stand’s YouTube channel: “I don’t think Antony and Sancho to Saudi Arabia in the summer is the case. It could be from the Saudi side. United have not opted to sell either now.”
Sancho has two-and-a-half years left on his current Man Utd contract, while Antony’s deal is due to expire in 2027.
