Arteta told to seek advice

Ray Parlour has urged Mikel Arteta to seek advice from former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

He said: “I’m sure there’s a little bit of Arsene Wenger in Mikel Arteta.

“I’m sure there’s a little bit of Pep Guardiola too. You can see certain attributes in him. But I’m so pleased that Wenger is back at the club now. I mean he had that spell when he wasn’t coming to the club. I was at his statue unveiling, which was really good to see him again, and he was in great form.

“He’s such a nice man and you know he wants the best for Arsenal Football Club. I’m sure if Mikel wanted to have a chat with Arsene Wenger then I’m sure he’d be up for it because he’s not that sort of man to turn him down. I’m sure if Mikel phoned him up, he’d help him as much as he could.”

Arsenal next five games

The Gunners are not in action this weekend after being knocked out of the FA Cup – but they visit Nottingham Forest in five days for a mid-week clash.

After that is the tricky visit of Liverpool, followed up by two easier Premier League games before returning to Champions League action.

Fabregas reveals Henry signing test

Cesc Fabregas has revealed Thierry Henry would put Arsenal signings through a special training routine to test the level of their skill.

Fabregas said: “I think there are always questions around the dressing room. It’s not about where did he come from, it’s more about the expectation.

“I remember Thierry Henry, he used to always every time there was a new player coming in, we used to do five against two, it’s called a rondo.

“He always used to bring them into the rondos because he wanted to see the level and he would give them a strong ball just to see if could control it.

“I remember that just to see if he could handle the pressure.”

Arsenal eye Osimhen summer transfer

Arsenal are set to enter the race to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, reports suggest.

Osimhen is gearing up for a transfer away from Napoli in the summer after firing the club to the Serie A title and winning the golden boot last season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, writing for CaughtOffside, Osimhen has already made the decision to find a new club in the summer, believing his time in Naples has been a “great success”.

Romano reports Arsenal will face competition from Saudi Arabia while he hints to also “keep an eye” on Chelsea.

Arsenal appoint new CEO

Arsenal have announced the appointment of a new Managing Director, Richard Garlick.

Garlick will step into the role when Chief Executive Officer, Vinai Venkatesham, leaves Arsenal in the summer.

Arsenal Co-Chair, Josh Kroenke, said: “Richard is recognised and respected across the industry for his vast experience, and we were delighted when he joined us back in 2021 to take our football strategy to the next level.

“He has made an enormous impact since joining us, working closely with our Sporting Director, Edu, on the development and implementation of the club’s football strategy. He has developed strong relationships right across the club and wider industry.

“Rich has been key to the progress we’ve made as a club – including recent transfers – and I’m thrilled he will now lead our Executive Team and continue to drive the club forward with passion.”

Arsenal offered chance to sign Wilson

Newcastle could sell Callum Wilson for just £18million in the final week of the January transfer window, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all alerted to his availability.

All three clubs want to sign a striker and a proven Premier League goalscorer has now come onto the market.

Newcastle need to raise money to ensure they stay in line with Premier League profit and sustainability rules after spending around £400m since they were taken over by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in 2021.
