As we approach the final day of the January transfer window, it’s time to take a look at some of the moves that may still yet transpire.
Premier League clubs have had a relatively mild window by today’s standards, but if the past is anything to go by, there’s bound to be a few surprises on the cards yet.
The deadline for English teams is at 11pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024, meaning we are approaching the 24-hour mark.
Here FootballTransfers takes you through five deals that still could materialise.
Bryan Gil to Brighton
Brighton and Tottenham are currently engaged in discussions regarding a potential loan deal for winger Bryan Gil, who is deemed surplus to requirements at Spurs The Seagulls are actively pursuing an initial loan agreement ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, reports the Evening Standard.
The 22-year-old has only made two starts this season, with his playing time further limited by the club’s acquisition of Timo Werner, who arrived at the North London club on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the campaign.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou has indicated the possibility of both Gil and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg departing the club before the deadline.
Armando Broja to Fulham
Jimenez had to leave the field at half-time after pulling an injury, and now Fulham are awaiting an assessment of the extent of his injury.
Despite traveling with the Chelsea squad for tonight’s match against Liverpool, there is still a possibility that Broja could depart the club before the upcoming transfer deadline. Fulham appears to be the most probable destination for the Slough-born striker. Wolves have also been linked but the club did not seem prepared to submit another offer after their recent loan bid was turned down.
Andre to Fulham
Andre looks set to remain with Fluminese despite Fulham coming back to the table for the midfielder. Even though there has been extensive interest in the youngster, including Liverpool and West Ham over the summer, it’s looking more and more like he will remain in Brazil.
That said, given his profile and the level of interest in Andre, it could see a club make a move on the final day of the window. Everything has been pointing towards a move away from his home nation and there is still some time left for that to happen.
Antonio Nusa to Brentford
FootballTransfers revealed that Brentford are set to revisit a move for Norwegian winger Antonio Nusa of Club Brugge.
The Bees had reached a €30 million agreement on Sunday for the winger but the move stalled due to complications around the player’s condition. Brentfordwere open to allowing the 18-year-old to remain on loan at the Belgian club for the remainder of the season, but complications arose during Nusa’s medical examination on Monday, revealing concerns about a cartilage issue in his knee and additional problems with his back.
Conor Gallagher to Tottenham
Throughout the month, Gallagher has been consistently brought up as a potential departure from Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea reportedly open to selling him if the right offer comes their way. Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep him in the team this season, but some among the Chelsea board have other ideas.
