Following the game, Chelsea players received disgusting abuse from accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Now both Caicedo and Fernandez have removed their accounts from the app.

SunSport has approached Chelsea for comment.

Reacting to the pair deactivating their profiles, one Blues fan replied: “Probably don’t want to keep seeing their own fans hate, don’t blame them 👍.”

Another added: “So sad. Get so much abuse for nothing.”

While a third said: “It’s horrible. Our own fanbase hating on them, it’s disgusting. People need to realise the difference between criticism and hate.

“We are lucky to have these two at the club. And people need to have a look in the mirror and see that it’s Poch’s system that isn’t getting the best out of these two.”

And a fourth added: “Can’t believe it has gotten to this level.”

Chelsea are languishing in 10th place in the Premier League table, 13 points adrift of the top four.

They had won three league games in a row heading into the Liverpool clash, but were blown away by Jurgen Klopp‘s men.

Chelsea host Wolves on Sunday, before an FA Cup fourth-round replay against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
