Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Lisandro Martinez injury latest, United beat Wolves, PSG ‘plot Marcus Rashford move’

Mount to return

Erik ten Hag has insisted that he is confident that Mason Mount will play again before the end of the season.

He said: “Absolutely. I expect him to return.”

Update on Martinez

Erik ten Hag has insisted that Lisandro Martinez’s withdrawal against Wolves was just a precaution.

He said: “It was a precaution.

“I took him off because, actually I had to sub Rasmus [Hojlund] because he was dead with all his running!

“But then we needed an extra header but, also for Licha, I think he is a long way out.

“We brought Harry on for [an] extra header and Omari Forson for Rasmus.”

Hammers without star duo

David Moyes has admitted that both Michail Antonio and Luca Paqueta are unlikely to feature against Manchester United.

He said: “It’s a really quick turnaround from Thursday’s game. We’re getting ourselves back together quickly and hopefully everyone will come through okay.

“There’s no more update in terms of injuries. We’re still dealing with the lads who are injured. We’ve not had any more from the medical team to suggest that [Lucas Paquetá] is going to be back. He’s been out for a few weeks and I don’t think he’ll be back for this weekend.

“Michail Antonio is coming on a bit more. He’s running on the grass now. He’s not worked with or trained with the team but he’s training outside. I couldn’t give a projected return date at this moment though.”

Moyes on United

David Moyes has spoken about Manchester United ahead of West Ham’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.

He said: “We played very well against Manchester United when we played them at London Stadium. We’re now going to Old Trafford, which has always been a notoriously hard place to get results. We’ll go there and try to put on a good performance.

“We’ve shown good league form, on the whole, and we have to try and keep it up. We’ve lost a couple of players in recent weeks through the Africa Cup of Nations, injuries and suspension, but we have to try and make sure we keep with it.

“Erik ten Hag is in a privileged position to be manager of Manchester United. I think he understands and respects that. I think he is trying to enforce how he wants the team to play and work, and you have to give him credit for that. When you’re in that job, you are under a lot of pressure. You are expected to win and you are expected to perform well. He understands that.

“I think he’s trying to get himself this period and then start building again, and they certainly picked up a good result against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.”

Ten Hag blasts FFP

Erik ten Hag has blasted FFP rules after the club flogged 13 players in a window and were left unable to sign anyone.

Ten Hag has spent around £410million since taking charge but has only one recognised fit striker in Rasmus Hojlund.

And United were left unable to bring in competition for the forward during this window.

On his frustrations, Ten Hag said: “It is not a secret – I wanted a striker, and because of the injury to Martial, we don’t really have the back-up. It was not possible because we have to meet the FFP rules.

“There are some disadvantages with FFP. To make space for FFP you actually have to sell players – you have to sell good players and I don’t think that is the way you build a team.”
