Sheffield United, Burnley and Everton are currently in the bottom three after the Toffees were hit with a ten-point deduction for breaching financial rules.

Sean Dyche’s team have launched an appeal in the hope they will reclaim some of their points.

Meanwhile, Luton are not relying on any help from Premier League chiefs in their battle for survival.

They have set their sights on staying up without any other clubs suffering a points deduction and only look at the table with Everton ten higher.

Luton CEO Gary Sweet told talkSPORT: “We want to stay up without anybody getting any points deducted.

“We’ve got a league table both at our head office and at our training ground that takes all points [deductions] away.

“You never know what’s going to happen in the season, if Everton find some of those ten points coming back.

“Currently, we are firmly in that bottom three.

“In our league table, Everton are 10 points higher. We actually want to survive without anyone having any points deductions.

“In an ideal world, certainly no supporter and we as a football club, don’t want to see any other football club docked points because ideally we really don’t want to see football clubs break the rules.”

Everton may not be the only club being punished with a deduction this season after Nottingham Forest were also judged to have broken Profitability and Sustainability Rules last term.
