There is going to be a managerial merry-go-round this summer with elite clubs all around the continent already lining up changes at the top.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are two such clubs with impending coaching alterations with Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp ready to move on.

Tuchel, 50, was informed last week by club bosses that his time at the Allianz Arena would be cut short and he will leave at the end of the current campaign.

Bayern are set for their first trophyless season in 12 years with Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen now 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

Lazio are 1-0 up on aggregate in their Champions League last-16 matchup, with Bayern also out of the DFB Pokal.

It means Tuchel is now on the hunt for another job with links to Barcelona, where Xavi is set to depart, as well as a surprising link to Liverpool emerging.

With Klopp’s decision to step down, Alonso has been installed as the early frontrunner for the Anfield hotseat but he is also high on the list for Bayern Munich.

Tuchel too divisive for Liverpool

And should the Reds have the option of recruiting Tuchel, that is a decision the club should steer away from, according to ex-Red Danny Murphy.

“No. He doesn’t fit them,” he told talkSPORT. “He’s too divisive. He’s not a Liverpool manager. Not for me.”

Murphy also took aim at Tuchel’s Bayern record with the club only just getting over the line in last season’s title race and Borussia Dortmund fumbling on the last day of the season.

“It’s not a surprise to me,” he said. “Let’s be honest, Bayern Munich should have lost the title to Borussia Dortmund last season – they ended up winning it on the final day.

“So things haven’t been great there for a while.”

Boehly is not a clown

That view was echoed by the former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, who believes events at Bayern have vindicated Todd Boehly’s decision to act swiftly in removing Tuchel from his position as Chelsea manager in 2022.

“It’s familiar territory for Thomas Tuchel,” the 56-year-old said.

“He had the same challenges at PSG, he had issues there, then he arrived at Chelsea and after the change of ownership he has issues with other things rather than just footballing matters, then he arrives at Bayern Munich and we are where we are.

“Tuchel is what Tuchel does. A lot of people complained that Todd Boehly is a clown for getting rid of Tuchel, that he didn’t know what he was doing.

“But you roll forward to where Bayern Munich are and you might find some answers to why Tuchel didn’t last at Chelsea.”
