Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino came under additional pressure on Saturday as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Brentford on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Nicolas Jackson gave them the lead in the first half of the match after a superb cross from Malo Gusto, yet sloppy defending allowed the Bees to come from behind to take the lead.

Goals from Mads Roerslev and Yoane Wissa, though, turned the match around, leaving the Blues to hit a late leveller from Axel Disasi.

The point leaves the Stamford Bridge side 11th in the Premier League table.

While Chelsea are on course to better the 44 points they managed last season, when they finished a miserable 12th, this is not the type of performance that was expected of the team when Pochettino was put in charge.

Indeed, the Blues have been so far off the pace that Pochettino’s spot in the dugout is coming under serious pressure.

Some of that would have been relieved had they managed to defeat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, but they suffered a 2-1 loss.

So with scrutiny mounting over the former Tottenham and PSG boss, how much would it cost the Blues to get rid of him?

Pochettino under pressure

Pochettino only signed a two-year contract when he was appointed to the job in the summer of 2023, meaning that he only has 16 months of his contract remaining. There is the option of an additional year, but that appears unlikely to be taken up at this time.

If Chelsea were to pay Pochettino’s remaining 15 off, it would cost them approximately £13 million.

This is based on Pochettino receiving an estimated wage of £200,000 per week.

Chelsea are unlikely to take decisive action against Pochettino currently, but there is no doubt the pressure is building on the manager.
