Man Utd: Erik ten Hag may face Jadon Sancho row repeat as favourite takes to social media | Football | Sport

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has taken to social media to delete everything associated with the club as his struggles for game time continue. Erik ten Hag could have another case of a young winger frustrated by his lack of minutes deciding to make his feelings known for the world to see online.

Amad has struggled to make a name for himself at Old Trafford since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed him in a £19million deal from Atalanta in January 2021.

He has appeared just 12 times since completing the transfer over three years ago, starting three of them, registering one goal and an assist.

The 21-year-old’s stint at United has involved two loan moves. First, an unsuccessful switch to Rangers, where he played just 13 times and scored three goals.

But Amad looked to have arrived in English football last season, firing Sunderland to the Championship Play-Offs with 14 goals and four assists in 42 appearances.

He returned to United in the summer but suffered a cruel blow, injuring his knee during pre-season, which kept him out of action until the final game of 2023 at Nottingham Forest.

Amad didn’t play a single game in January, sparking suggestions he could leave on another loan amid Sunderland’s public interest in a return.

However, reports claimed Amad held positive discussions with Ten Hag, during which he was said to be prepared for future involvement in the Dutchman’s plans.

He has been limited to just 27 minutes of football across two substitute cameos since, though, and doesn’t appear to be happy about it.

This afternoon, United supporters noticed that Amad has removed all mentions of the club from his Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

The decision has bemused over 1.8 million followers across both platforms, with Sunderland now front and centre on both.

Ten Hag’s decision to start 19-year-old Omari Forson over Amad and £86m signing Antony against Fulham near the end of February was particularly eye-catching.
