Liverpool dealt fresh injury issue ahead of Sheff Utd clash as Jurgen Klopp gives details | Football | Sport

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that his side could be without Wataru Endo for their clash with Sheffield United on Thursday night. The midfielder has played a key role at Anfield in recent weeks but appears to have added his name to the Reds’ injury list.

Klopp’s side have struggled throughout the season with injury problems, and their issues are showing no signs of slowing as they head into the final stretch of the Premier League campaign.

The Reds are currently top of the table and will be hoping to take another significant step closer to the title on Merseyside this week when they host Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United. However, Liverpool could be without Endo for the clash.

Klopp has revealed that the Japan international sustained a niggle whilst playing against Brighton over the weekend, explaining: “He got a knock in the last game so we will have to see what we do with him for tomorrow. The skillset of each player is crucial to how we want to play but offensively the protections needs to be first and foremost.

“(It) Has to be perfect, gives you the freedom to fly offensively and a natural defensive-minded midfielder is super helpful. In possession, he is doing really well too. Partners up with everyone really well, worked out well. Super important.”

It wasn’t all bad news for Liverpool on Wednesday afternoon though, as Klopp did reveal that Curtis Jones is in contention to feature against the Blades. The midfielder has recovered from an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined since February.
