What a season Christian Benteke is having with DC United! The Belgian scored another brace last night against Montreal CF.
Christian Benteke has found his best form again in MLS. The 33-year-old Belgian striker scored another brace last night in DC United’s defeat at Montreal CF (4-2). The captain since this season, Benteke has now scored 13 goals in 14 games.
However, “Bentegoal” had not scored in the last 3 games. The last time was on May 12 against Atlanta United… and he had scored a hat-trick. With this total of 13 goals, Benteke joins the top scorer in MLS (Cristian Arango, Real Salt Lake), and leaves behind a certain Lionel Messi (11 goals)!
However, DC United’s season is not brilliant. The club from the capital is only 10th in the Eastern Conference, one point behind Philadelphia and Nashville who also have one less game played. The Playoffs are therefore far from assured for Christian Benteke’s team.
The former Liverpool player is not the only Belgian to have scored last night. Hugo Cuypers scored the only Chicago Fire goal against Orlando (1-1). It’s his 4th goal since joining Chicago last winter.
