Club Brugge enjoyed a superb end to the season, marked by the Belgian championship title. However, the Blauw en Zwart will be parting ways with several players this summer.
In addition to the thorny cases of Andreas Skov Olsen and Antonio Nusa, Club Brugge also has the situations of several players whose contracts are due to expire soon on the table.
Recently, the Club decided to extend the contract of its iconic defender Brandon Mechele, who is now linked to the Blauw en Zwart until June 2027.
This will not be the case for Eder Balanta (31). As expected, the Colombian midfielder’s contract has not been extended by the management.
Having arrived at Club Brugge in September 2019 from FC Basel for €2.4 million, Balanta has not always convinced. He was also loaned from January to June 2023 to Schalke 04.
This season, he played a relatively important role in midfield in Nicky Hayen’s system, coming on at the end of matches in the Play-offs. He leaves the Club after 144 games played, 8 goals scored and 3 assists.
