The Euros in Germany got underway on Friday with a resounding 4-1 victory for the Mannschaft over Scotland. And while several of the big guns have made their mark and have not yet disappointed, Belgium will not have the luxury of error on Monday when they play their first match of the continental tournament against Slovakia (18:00). And while the Red Devils were present at the pre-match press conference on Sunday, Belgian coach Domenico Tedesco made a big announcement.
The Italian revealed that Thomas Meunier would be back in the Belgian squad after having pulled out due to a right thigh injury: “Meunier will be back in a week and a half, ten days. After the match against Romania, he will be back. He is very motivated to be here. I am glad the injury was not as serious as it seemed, even though it was not very clear at the time he left the field.” This is good news for the former PSG player and Belgium, who will be back for the third matchday of the group stage against Ukraine.
