'3D wall could be seen in the Jupiler Pro League next season'

The so-called 3D wall that clearly showed that Romelu Lukaku was offside for his first disallowed goal against Slovakia could come to the Jupiler Pro League, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.

The technology ensured that there was no doubt about Lukaku’s offside position during the Red Devils’ 0-1 defeat to Slovakia in the European Championship. The technology could come to the Jupiler Pro League as early as next season.

In the current way with line drawing and VAR, it can sometimes take up to five minutes for confirmation of whether a goal is valid or not. At the Pro League’s general meeting, a vote will be taken on the new offside technology.

The various professional clubs will decide whether to introduce ‘Semi Automated Offline Technology’ (SAOT). This is a system similar to the one used by UEFA at the current Euro 2024 in Germany. A generated animation with a transparent 3D wall is used to make it clear whether a player is offside.
