Théo Defourny, who had become number 2, has left RWDM for Sporting Charleroi. His replacement is known.
Théo Defourny had lost his starting place at RWDM despite his captaincy. On his arrival at the club, Yannick Ferrera had indeed decided to put his faith in Guillaume Hubert, for tactical reasons – the latter being better on aerial balls, one of RWDM’s weak points.
Ferrera’s extension at Molenbeek naturally pushed Defourny, who has no vocation to be number 2, towards the exit and the former OL goalkeeper has therefore signed for Sporting Charleroi. RWDM were looking for a backup.
She is known: according to Sudinfo, it is Bill Lathouwers (24 years old), Beerschot’s number 2 goalkeeper last season. Born in Wilrijk, Lathouwers came through the ranks at Antwerp before a spell at Maastricht.
Having arrived at Beerschot in July 2022 from Beveren, Bill Lathouwers will have played 30 matches for the Rats (29 of which in his first season, and only one last season). He signs for free at RWDM and signs for two seasons with a third as an option.
