Matricule 1, as it is known, officially begins its preparations for the new season.

Just like Bruges, Antwerp kicked off their new season after a three-week break.

Under the radiant sunshine, the players gathered at the Bosuil, where two days of traditional medical tests await them before returning to the pitch for the first time of the season on Wednesday. The players will train for the first time on the pitch under the supervision of their new coach Jonas De Roeck.

The Antwerp reinforcements were already present with Tjaronn Chery (Maccabi Haifa), Ayrton Costa (CA Independiente) and Rosen Bozhinov (CSKA 1948). In addition, Christopher Scott (Hannover) and Pierre Dwomoh (RWDM) were also back after their respective loans last season.

Wednesday’s training will be open to the public and will take place on Pitch C, located just behind the Bosuil. A big season awaits Jonas De Roeck, who will have the daunting task of starting a new cycle and succeeding Mark Van Bommel. He will also have to rebuild a competitive squad that has been undermined by several departures.
