The Belgian football world is in mourning today. It has been reported that a 28-year-old Belgian footballer has passed away.

The Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Het Laatste Nieuws that an accident involving a Belgian citizen had occurred in Thailand, but did not provide any further details. It is believed to be 28-year-old footballer Luvovadio, who played for JS Tamines.

Death at Sea

Luvovadio had gone swimming at Freedom Beach, 15 kilometres from Phuket, despite the red flag warning and strong winds and currents in the area. He got into difficulty and was unable to reach the shore. Two other foreign tourists were able to be rescued from the water alive, but Luvovadio was not so fortunate.

His body was eventually washed ashore and was taken to hospital for an autopsy. Luvovadio was a versatile forward who had previously played for Solières, Gosselies, Ganshoren and the youth team at Sporting Charleroi.
