Experienced Odoi set to join Antwerp: Deal nearing completion at Bosuil Stadium

It was already known that Antwerp were in pole position to sign Denis Odoi (36) on a free transfer from Club Brugge. The transfer could be completed soon: Odoi was at the Bosuil Stadium on Tuesday afternoon to finalise his move. Coach Jonas De Roeck seems set to add a wealth of experience to his squad.

As is well-known, Odoi’s contract at Club expires at the end of this month. After his strong end to the season – he played a key role in the title win – the blue-blacks opened talks with the Ghanaian-Belgian about an extension, but he was asked to take a pay cut and the gap between supply and demand proved too great. Antwerp made Odoi a more attractive offer.

They see the versatile player, who can play both at full-back and in midfield, as a useful addition with a positive influence on the (young) dressing room and therefore decided to push through the deal.

On Tuesday afternoon, Odoi was spotted at Antwerp’s stadium to finalise his transfer. The fact that Antwerp can bring in the versatile defender/midfielder on a free transfer is a bonus.
