For Belgium, Wednesday’s match against Ukraine saw no goals scored.
A goalless draw was enough to qualify for the last 16 of the competition. And when Kevin De Bruyne is asked if he is angry with the reaction of the supporters who booed at the final whistle, he replies: “I’m happy because we qualified. I’m happy with the way the team played, we deserved to win.”
“Happy with the way we played”
“I think we started very well, with very high pressing. After 25-30 minutes there were a few chances that we didn’t take. Then we changed things but we didn’t manage to create any chances,” he added.
As for the management of the end of the match, De Bruyne says: “At the end we know it’s difficult because we knew that if we conceded a goal we were out. The way we play the corner is to avoid taking risks.”
And the Red Devil concludes on the duel against France that is coming up: “We are not the favourites but if you want to win the Euros, you have to be able to beat everyone. We have been on the right side of the draw once before but we were knocked out by Wales.”
