Paul Nardi, a bargain followed by Charleroi, is on the radar of another club

Paul Nardi has not been extended by Ghent. He is therefore free to join another club in the Jupiler Pro League.

It was a blow for Paul Nardi that Ghent did not offer him a new contract. The 30-year-old goalkeeper suffered a very serious injury last season and was sidelined for months.

“My agent had some contacts with Michel Louwagie but so far the club has not yet communicated a definitive decision to me. I am waiting. They haven’t told me yet: ‘Paul, thank you for everything, goodbye’,” Nardi said last May.

The decision has now been made and the Frenchman is not being extended. Nardi wants to stay in Belgium and has options. KV Kortrijk are one of the interested clubs. The Flemings are interested in the services of an experienced goalkeeper who has already proven himself, notably at Cercle.

There are other options and Nardi will consider them all. Sporting Charleroi have been mentioned in particular, but the Zèbres have officialised the arrival of Théo Defourny, who is expected to become number 1 to replace Hervé Koffi who has left for RC Lens.

Does this mean that Davy Roef will finally be the undisputed number 1 at Ghent? That remains to be seen. The Buffalos are still looking for a new goalkeeper to provide him with competition.
