Hernan Losada is the new coach of Deinze. Can he do better than this season?

It had been more than six months since Hernan Losada had been without a club since the end of his adventure at Impact Montreal. In recent weeks, his name has been mentioned in several D1B clubs, including Lierse, where he played for two years.

But it was Deinze who made his arrival official this lunchtime: “Hernan is a young coach with the passion, knowledge and energy needed to be part of this project. After several conversations with different profiles, we are convinced that Hernán is the right candidate to write history with this team” declared sporting director Adrián Espárraga.

Hernan Losada must help Deinze continue to grow

For his part, Losada explains: “I was waiting for the right moment to return to Belgium. After many discussions with the club, I am convinced that this is the perfect project for me. The club’s progress is impressive, now it’s up to me to build on that and make further improvements”.

This season, Deinze finished third in the Challenger Pro League and was very close to challenging Kortrijk for a double play-off qualifying for the D1A. But Lommel eventually had the last word in the Promotions Playoffs final, losing to the Kerels a few days later.

Hernan Losada therefore makes his return to Belgium, having left Beerschot to join DC United in MLS more than three years ago. He has signed a two-year contract with Deinze.
