No one at Neerpede has forgotten Remco Evenepoel’s time there. Anderlecht have just released a jersey in his honour.

Before becoming a cycling phenomenon, Remco Evenepoel was also a great prospect in football. A Belgian international up to the U16s, the Schepdaal native spent a large part of his youth training at Anderlecht.

He was at Neerpede from 2005 to 2011 and then again from 2014 to 2017, with a spell at PSV’s academy in between.

Remco Evenepoel’s first Tour de France

The Sporting Club has not forgotten him: the Mauves announced on the eve of the start of the Tour de France the release of a special jersey. It is a cycling jersey called “Sporting Boy”, designed in collaboration with the high-end cycling brand Castelli.

The jersey is “an ode to Remco and a must-have for cycling fans who have a penchant for the Mauve and White,” the club said in its statement.

In this way, Remco Evenepoel follows in the footsteps of Eddy Merckx, both for cycling fans and in the hearts of Anderlecht supporters.
