France and Belgium meet on Monday in the round of 16 of the European Championship.
In charge of the French national team since 2012, Didier Deschamps has enjoyed some great successes, including a victory in the 2018 World Cup final.
That year, France beat Belgium in the semi-finals. A match that is still talked about in both countries today.
Previewing Monday’s match on TF1, Didier Deschamps believes it is pointless to talk about any Belgian revenge.
“Me, revenge stuff… They can do whatever they want, they can’t change 2018. There’s another story to write. It’s normal for them to do everything to make it go their way. We’re going to make sure we take our place in the quarter-finals,” he said.
Deschamps also assessed the strength of Belgium, who have been disappointing so far in this European Championship. “I have no fear of Belgium, but they have a lot of attacking potential. With Lukaku, De Bruyne, Doku, Lukebakio, Trossard, there’s a lot of potential,” he continued.
