Now that the European Championship is over for the Red Devils, the transfer market is perhaps about to explode for several of our compatriots. Johan Bakayoko is one of the Red Devils who is expected to make a major transfer this summer. The winger failed to impress at the European Championship but had an excellent season at PSV.

Indeed, although PSV invested heavily in the arrivals of Noa Lang and Hirving Lozano last summer, the 21-year-old winger has become a key player in Eindhoven. With 12 goals and 9 assists, he was able to produce impressive statistics in the Eredivisie, playing an important role in PSV’s national title. He also shone in the Champions League.

Bakayoko’s transfer is not a certainty

This means that Bakayoko remains in high demand, after PSG, Brentford and Burnley, among others, have already tried to lure him away from the Netherlands in the past year. In recent months, he has already been linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona.

During the European Championship, Bakayoko indicated at a press event for the Red Devils that he was not yet sure whether he would be transferred this summer. For VI, Marco Timmer, a PSV observer, also indicates that a transfer is not yet a done deal.

Bakayoko wants playing time and the Champions League

This is mainly because Bakayoko himself has high demands for a transfer. Indeed, he only wants to leave PSV for a club where he can play as many minutes as possible AND where he can play in the Champions League. This already excludes Chelsea or Newcastle, for example.

If you add to that the asking price of PSV, which is around 50 to 60 million euros, it will not be easy to find a club that meets all the conditions. So it is not excluded that Bakayoko will stay in Eindhoven.
