RFC Seraing narrowly avoided relegation to the National League 1 (or D1 ACFF) following the revocation of KV Ostende’s license. They will now need to strengthen their squad to improve their performance next season.
After a very difficult season that should have ended with relegation to National League 1, RFC Seraing have managed to stay in the Challenger Pro League. The Métallos benefited from the disappearance of KV Ostende, who failed to obtain a license for professional football.
In order to do better next season, Seraing have gone for experience. The arrival of Nils Schouterden (35) has been officially announced by the Liège club. The full-back joins on a free transfer from Lierse-Kempenzonen, where he has been playing since 2021.
Schouterden has extensive experience in the Jupiler Pro League and the Challenger Pro League, with 126 appearances for AS Eupen, 115 for Saint-Trond, 84 for Lierse, 76 for OHL, 48 for KVC Westerlo and 31 for KV Mechelen.
Nils Schouterden also had a brief spell at Larnaca in Cyprus, his only experience abroad. He has signed a one-season contract with RFC Seraing.
