Striker leaves Saint-Trond for another JPL club

Fatih Kaya has left Saint-Trond on a free transfer. The German striker had been under contract with the Canaries since the summer of 2022. However, it didn’t take him long to find a new club.

Kaya has been a free agent since July 1st, after his contract with STVV was not renewed. According to Gazet van Antwerpen, promoted club Beerschot have put the German on trial. The 24-year-old striker seems to want to stay in the Jupiler Pro League.

Kaya played 44 league matches for Saint-Trond and never managed to score. The 24-year-old striker was ridiculed, but in the European play-offs, he was finally rewarded. Kaya managed to score twice. Despite this, his contract was not renewed.

Kaya was often important under Thorsten Fink, but Saint-Trond decided not to extend his contract. Today, the German has found refuge at Beerschot. The Antwerp club were Challenger Pro League champions last season and will be back in the top flight next season.

On trial

Kaya will first have to prove himself in a trial at Beerschot. The striker already had his chance in the friendly match against AEK Athens this afternoon. The 24-year-old German played for an hour. A very young Beerschot team eventually lost 3-0 to the Greeks.

Beerschot first 60 minutes: Matijas, Tolis, Matthys (c), Tshimanga, Weymans, Michez, Cagro, Van Himbeeck (20′ Bailly), Reyners, El Grafel, Keita.
