Casper Nielsen is not performing as well in Bruges colours as he did at Union Saint-Gilloise. But he is not giving up hope of finally breaking through.
Casper Nielsen (30) was one of the best midfielders in Belgium at Union Saint-Gilloise, but is not an undisputed starter at Club Brugge. With two years left on his contract, the Danish midfielder has had to answer questions about a departure.
Nielsen spoke to Tipsbladet and did not seem to think a transfer was necessary this summer. “I feel good in Belgium. But of course, you never know in football, I can’t predict anything,” said the FC Bruges midfielder.
“However, I’m focused on Bruges, and they see me as an important player. So I’m not going to force a transfer.” Last season, Casper Nielsen played 47 matches in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
He was not a starter in the PO1, only starting one of the 10 matches. But the Dane recalls that he was hampered by an injury at times. “My goal is to avoid injuries and, with the medical staff, to better distribute the workload,” Nielsen explains.
Casper Nielsen has played 94 matches since joining Bruges, scoring 12 goals and providing 4 assists. For comparison, he had provided 17 assists in 99 matches for USG.
