Paul Gheysens calls on a British agency to find new investors for Antwerp
Since he joined the club, Paul Gheysens has been plugging the gaps and putting the club back on the map, at the cost of millions of euros. According to De Tijd, the club’s strongman has reportedly turned to British agency Tifosy to find new investors for Antwerp.
Since taking over Matricule 1 in 2017, Paul Gheysens has injected a lot of money into the club, whose capital has increased. Spending has been enormous, between players, a renowned coach and a major renovation of the Bosuil, Antwerp is now in the red.
A symbol of this situation, this season will be marked by a young squad, an influx of free or loaned players rather than substantial purchases, all until fresh capital eventually arrives at the Bosuil.
Paul Gheysens is therefore looking for new investors who want to buy a part of his shares or participate in a new capital increase through new shares, explains the media. Gheysens would however remain the majority shareholder of the 2023 Belgian champion club.
The Belgian has therefore entrusted the search for fresh capital to the British company Tifosy, reports De Tijd. The specialist company is carrying out a similar mission for La Gantoise and has done so in the past for clubs such as Inter Milan and Inter Miami.
