Charleroi secured a 1-2 victory over Francs Borains. A good way to keep everyone focused after yesterday’s success in Saint-Trond.
Sunday was a day of celebration for Francs Borains, as they held their fan day. For the occasion, the Hennuyers organized not one but two matches.
After a 3-1 win against Tournai, the Stade Robert Urbain hosted the main event with the visit of Charleroi.
Unsurprisingly, Rik De Mil fielded an entirely different starting XI compared to the one that played in Saint-Trond yesterday. Despite this, the Zebras won 1-2 thanks to goals from Youssouph Badji and young Quentin Benaerts.
Francs Borains could have fielded a central defensive pairing of Dewaest and Dessoleil against Charleroi. The Carolois came up against a few familiar faces in Boussu: the home side fielded a certain Dorian Dessoleil. The former Charleroi captain (over 200 games for the Sporting) arrived on a free transfer from Antwerp this summer.
Théo Gécé, another former product of the Charleroi youth academy, also started. However, other former Zebras Sébastien Dewaest and Clément Libertiaux were called up for the first match of the afternoon.
