Mohamed Salah has signed for Lommel. He is well acquainted with D1B having played for Club NXT last season.
When they learned that their club had signed Mohamed Salah, Lommel supporters had to pinch themselves to check they weren’t dreaming. Beyond the traditional jokes about his Liverpool namesake, the young recruit from Club Brugge presents an interesting profile.
Initially trained at Crossing Schaerbeek, the attacking midfielder continued his career at Zulte Waregem before signing for Union Saint-Gilloise in 2019.
Having gradually climbed the ranks, Salah made his Pro League debut two years ago under Karel Geraerts, on the opening matchday. His performances with the reserve team convinced Club Brugge to recruit him to join Club NXT.
Lommel ambitious in D1B
He is coming off a season with 4 goals and 5 assists in D1B. Last November, he was also called up by Thomas Vermaelen for two friendlies against France with the Belgian U20s, alongside players like Norman Bassette, Pierre Dwomoh, Mathias Delorge and Matte Smets.
He is now at Lommel: the Limburgers announced today the arrival of Mohamed Salah on a five-year deal.
