Just a few years ago, Eliot Matazo was considered one of the brightest young talents in our country. But at 22, the promising midfielder’s career seems to have stalled somewhat.

Over the past six months, the AS Monaco player was loaned to Antwerp, but he failed to establish himself in the first team. In total, he was only named in the starting eleven five times under Mark van Bommel.

This summer, the Belgian returned to Monaco but is not expected to stay for long. In fact, the Monegasque club wants to sell the player who came through the ranks at Neerpede.

According to information from Le Parisien, one club has made a move for Matazo: Red Bull Salzburg. The Austrian club has entered into discussions with Monaco to finalise the transfer as soon as possible.

By joining Red Bull Salzburg, Matazo will be playing for a club that has faith in young players and regularly competes in the Champions League or Europa League.
