Brecht Dejaegere has signed for Kortrijk. He is returning to his boyhood club.
Kortrijk this afternoon officially announced the return of Brecht Dejaegere from Charlotte FC (MLS). The midfielder was trained at the club, playing his first matches under Hein Vanhaezebrouck, in a team that also included Sven Kums, Karim Belhocine and Giuseppe Rossini.
Dejaegere then joined Gent in 2013. There, he became a true icon for the Buffalos (247 games played, including 26 in European competition, winning the title in 2015).
Dejaegere at Kortrijk, a win-win return In 2020, Dejaegere tried his luck abroad with Toulouse. Under Philippe Montanier, he contributed to TFC’s return to Ligue 1. Before heading to the MLS and Charlotte at the end of his first season in the French top flight.
At 33, the Ostend native had lost his starting place for several weeks, so he is returning to KVK on a two-year contract.
A great signing for the Kerels, who continue to strengthen to avoid having to play in the relegation playoffs as they did last season.
