At Anderlecht, no player is indispensable right now. The club is looking to strengthen every position and believes they need more competition for Mats Rits.
Mats Rits is the only true ‘number six’ in Anderlecht’s squad. Leoni and Ashimeru can play in that position, but they are more effective when deployed further up the field. Rits is the ‘vacuum cleaner’ who is tasked with tidying up and launching attacks.
Rits is no longer untouchable
This is where the problem lies. He is losing too many balls due to poor passes or making the wrong decisions when trying to play long balls. At Anderlecht, this issue in the transition from defence to attack is a significant concern.
Leoni, Stroeykens, and Verschaeren often have to drop deep to collect the ball themselves, limiting their ability to create overloads in the attacking third. Dreyer is difficult to find with a long pass, and Dolberg often finds himself facing two defenders.
Dorsch to strengthen Anderlecht?
In short, Mats Rits is becoming too focused on simply ‘doing his job’, and sporting director Jesper Fredberg is looking for an alternative. Hence the interest in Niklas Dorsch. Dorsch would bring more attacking impetus, allowing the aforementioned creative players to operate higher up the field.
The German player is open to a move to Anderlecht, but Fredberg is waiting for his price to drop. Although Augsburg are willing to sell, the German club is demanding too much. The Sporting director wants to save money to make signings in attack, which are more expensive. He can’t afford to spend millions on Dorsch before finding a winger and another midfielder.
A personal agreement is already in place with Niklas Dorsch, but it may be necessary to wait until the transfer deadline to see if he will arrive in Brussels.
