What had been in the air for several days is now official. Benito Raman is a player for FC Mechelen. The Malinois have just announced it via the club’s channels.

Raman signs for 2 years at Mechelen

“Mechelen have called on Benito Raman, an experienced player. The 29-year-old Gent player joins our attack after a brief spell at the Turkish club Samsunspor. Raman has signed a two-year contract with a one-year option,” said KVM.

Mechelen are obviously very happy with Raman’s arrival. “It was clear that we needed attacking reinforcements,” said sporting director Tim Matthys, who has been working on this deal for weeks, if not months. “Clubs all over the world are looking for strikers, so you sometimes have to be patient to attract the right profiles.”

Matthys satisfied

According to Matthys, Benito was not an option at the beginning of the transfer window. “When we learned that Benito was finally going to be put on the market, I didn’t hesitate,” said an extremely satisfied sporting director.

“The fact that we can get a striker of his calibre makes me extremely happy. He fits perfectly with our club and will bring us an extra bit of quality,” concluded Matthys.
