Antwerp has set its sights on Dennis Praet. The 30-year-old midfielder is currently a free agent following his departure from Leicester City. Praet was already on Anderlecht’s radar, but he preferred to wait for an offer from an Italian club.

For Antwerp, the need for reinforcements is clear. The club currently has a limited squad with few options. The potential arrival of Dennis Praet would not only increase the quality in midfield but would also add the necessary depth to the team.

Despite ongoing discussions, no agreement has yet been reached between the two parties, according to the Nieuwsblad. Antwerp has several options on the table, while Praet himself is in talks with other interested clubs – including Anderlecht, who had contacted him earlier in the transfer window.

Dennis Praet: Antwerp or Anderlecht?

He had hoped for a return to Serie A, but so far no suitable opportunity has presented itself. This opens the door to a return to Belgium, an increasingly attractive option as time is running out if he wants to regain his form.

A deal with Antwerp would mean Praet’s return to the Jupiler Pro League after eight years, where he had already excelled as an Anderlecht player. He notably won the Golden Shoe.

For Antwerp, his arrival would be a significant injection of quality, while Praet himself would have the opportunity to revitalise his career. The coming days will tell us whether the deal will materialise and if Praet will be visible on Belgian pitches once again.
