Christian Lattanzio (52) has become the first manager to be sacked in the Jupiler Pro League this season. Saint-Trond has decided to end its collaboration with the Italian coach after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Following the departures of key players such as Suzuki, Koita, Smets, Delorge, Bocat and Steuckers, Christian Lattanzio faced a significant challenge: ensuring that Saint-Trond could match their performance from last season, when the club finished in a respectable ninth place.

However, the start of the current season has been anything but positive. After six matches, Saint-Trond has yet to record a single win, has conceded fifteen goals and, with just three points from their first six games, find themselves second from bottom in the table.

As a replacement, it is highly likely that a familiar face will be appointed: Felice Mazzu (58), who already has experience with several big Belgian clubs.

The club’s management now seems to be pinning their hopes on Felice Mazzu, who has worked at Union, Anderlecht, Genk and Charleroi. Mazzu had to step down last year in favour of Rik De Mil at the helm of Charleroi, who managed to keep the club in the top flight at the end of the Play-downs.

Discussions regarding the details of Mazzu’s appointment are already underway at Saint-Trond, including the staff members he could potentially appoint. The coming days will tell us whether the negotiations will be successful.
